Matteo Grattarola and Vertigo make their X-Trial world championship debut this weekend. The X-Trial World Championship calendar is set to hold its opening date at Barcelona’s Palau Sant Jordi, where Grattarola finished on the podium in the most recent edition.
The X-Trial world championship gets underway this weekend with Vertigo lining up their most outstanding rider, the Italian, Matteo Grattarola. The Palau Sant Jordi is a home venue for the brand from Pala-Solità i Plegamans. The championship consists of a total of eight point-paying dates set to conclude in November after a break in April when the outdoor world championship begins.
Grattarola is not a regular in the X-Trial competition, but nevertheless, last season managed to finish in third place on two occasions, posting fourth in the final championship standings.
Debut at DL12
The Italian, after making his debut in Sheffield earlier in the year, was forced to undergo surgery in January to put right some muscular issues. Prior to the Barcelona event, as a test, Grattarola took part in another indoor trial in Chambéry, France.
The Barcelona indoor trial, an event that has featured more times than any other in the trial calendar, 46, kicks off this coming Sunday at 17:00 at the Olympic Palau Sant Jordi in Barcelona.
Matteo Grattarola, Vertigo Factory rider: “I am very excited about what will be my debut with Vertigo in the world championship. I hope I can do well this season. Although I’ve only been able to ride the Nitro Works in competition a few times this year, I’ve had some good feelings. Let’s start the season on a positive note.”
