VERTIGO TEAM GETS THE 2023 TRIALGP WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP UNDERWAY IN SPAIN

The first round of the TrialGP World Championship will be held this coming weekend in Arteixo, with the six Vertigo riders ready for one of the year’s top challenges.

A new world championship season is upon us. The curtain rises on the TrialGP World Championship this coming weekend in Arteixo, A Coruña, with the participation of a total of six riders in the various competition categories.

The participation of Vertigo riders in Trial’s top flight is spearheaded by Italian Matteo Grattarola in the TrialGP category. Grattarola, who finished fourth last season, will be looking to improve his current ranking aboard the new Vertigo Nitro RSR.

Four Vertigo riders will compete in Trial2: Spanish riders Pau Martinez and Adrià Mercadé, Italian Mattia Spreafico and Belgian champion Emile Mattheeuws. Alfie Lampkin will represent the green brand in the Trial3 category on a 125cc Vertigo Nitro RSR.

New rules and regulations

The regulations for 2023 will include some new features. The most important of these is the creation of a parc fermé where no work can be carried out on any bikes from the end of the practice session on Friday afternoon until Saturday morning, just prior to the start of the first of the two days of competition. When the riders finish the competition on Saturday, the bikes will be returned once again to the parc fermé until the following morning.

Another change this year is that assistance from the ‘minder’ will only be provided in half of the twelve sections that make up the trial. Arteixo, making its maiden outing as a TrialGP World Championship event, will feature an eight-kilometre course.

The seven dates in the calendar will all be double day events with each day paying points independently. Therefore, the TrialGP World Championship will be decided on the tally of 14 trials.
