The Vertigo team survives the battle of Comblain-au-Pont

Miquel Gelabert remains in sixth position in the general standings of the TrialGP World Championship after the challenging Belgium GP, a single-day trial.

The Belgian event has always been historically tricky and tough for all riders. Technically complex, it tests the skills of each rider on demanding terrain. And this time, it lived up to the expectation. A single but complicated day of trials for everyone, including the Vertigo riders participating in the TrialGP World Championship.

Miquel Gelabert, in TrialGP, was not sufficiently satisfied with the final result in Comblain-au-Pont, the ninth scoring round of this World Championship. He had the ambition to fight for more and better, but it was not to be. The parity among the leading riders in the World Championship resulted in several contesting for the top five, but Gelabert failed to break into that group because of small mistakes that significantly hindered his performance. Gelabert maintains sixth place in the provisional standings of the championship.

In Trial2, a point more for Mattia Spreafico, who was battling to enter the top ten but without reward. Not far off in form and score was Pau Martínez, but the fiercely close competition in the category left him in 21st place, which does not do justice to his merits. Alfie Lampkin found himself in a similar situation, much more comfortable with the slippery terrain of Comblain, but equally penalised by small mistakes.

It was not a great day for Ángel Llopis (11th) either. The Valencian, however, showed style and was close to entering the top five in sections he is not accustomed to riding.

Debut in Trial2Women for Eloise Rahir. The young Belgian withstood the pressure of competing at home in her first international trial and scored points despite some youthful mistakes.

The next event in the TrialGP World Championship is at the end of August, in Cahors, but before that, the Vertigo team will have a new round of the Spanish Trial Championship in Pobladura de las Regueras. The town of León will host two days of competition in the national championship.
