GRATTAROLA EDGES FORWARD IN AUSTRIA

Matteo Grattarola’s aim in the second round of the X-Trial World Championship was to improve on the previous trial performance in Barcelona. The Italian showed some slight signs of improvement, particularly on the second lap in which he finished fourth.

Vertigo’s rider in the X-Trial World Championship, Matteo Grattarola, hampered with riding practically with virtually no references, was under pressure to turn around a tricky situation in the championship, but failed to make any meaningful improvement: a lot of penalty marks picked up on the first lap weighed heavily upon the Italian. However, Grattarola showed some fine handling the second time through the sections, to eventually finish the lap fourth behind Bou, Busto and Raga.

However, too many first-lap mistakes meant that he was unable to finish above eighth. Some slight progress compared to the final result at the Barcelona trial, but still far away from his originally planned indoor season goals.

The next event of the X-Trial World Championship is set to take place on Saturday 25 March in Pamplona, Spain. The third round of the calendar will be hosted at the Navarra Arena.

Matteo Grattarola (Vertigo Factory rider): “I want to apologise for not being able to get a better result here in Wiener Neustadt. I wanted to do well, but it didn’t work out. In these two trials the results have gone against us, but little by little we are seeing some progress. The second lap through the sections was better than the first and I think that by working hard we can turn this situation around. I have full confidence in the team and we will keep working to get better results.”
