TOP 5 FINISH FOR VERTIGO AND DOUGIE LAMPKIN AT THE 3 DIES TRIAL SANTIGOSA 2017

2017-04-18

This past weekend took place in Sant Joan de les Abadesses (Spain), one of the most popular races for trial riders worldwide. The "3 Dies Trial Santigosa" kicked off for their 46th time, being once again, a huge success in terms of public attendance as well as participation with about 200 riders taking part in this edition.

This year Dougie Lampkin acted as Vertigo's official rider for the event, one race he knows very well, as he had already taken part in it a few times carrying one overall victory in 1997. Alongside with Dougie, about14 Vertigo riders participated in Santigosa, being provided with assistance by the Vertigo staff.

Following the same routine of every year, Jeroni Fajardo came to the "3 Dies Trial Santigosa" to compete at least in one of the days of competition. This time, the opening day which was on Friday, was the time that we could see Jeroni ripping Santigosa's sections, finishing at the end of the day in a great third position with only three penalties after cleaning almost all the 31 sections that composed this first day. In the meantime, Dougie was also making great advances, as he arrived with a clean target to the last four sections, where he made one mark in each of them to finish the opening day with 4 penalties in a great 5th position.

Second day of competition fired off with some extra difficulties due to the rain fell during Friday's afternoon, leaving for Saturday slippery and wet conditions. Dougie Lampkin, who is actually preparing himself for another edition of the SSDT where he can make history once again by winning for the 11th time, was riding at a high level once more, showing great style throughout the sections and demonstrating that his skills and abilities on a trial bike are still there. At the end of Saturday, Dougie was third in the general standings tied with Jorge Casales (Beta), with only eleven marks after 62 sections.

Finally, last day of competition saw the same competitive Doguie Lampkin, who was able to battle against premier class riders of the Trial GP World Championship like Takahisa Fujinami or Jorge Casales. Even Dougie does not have the same level of training as he used to have some years ago, he managed to keep up the rhythmset by all these talented riders, ending this last day with huge options to snatch a podium finish at this popular race. At the end, only one mark separated Dougie from the second place, ending the three days with only 14 marks, the same as Jaime Busto, who was finally fourth dropping Dougie back to fifth as Oriol Noguera (Gas Gas) and Jorge Casales (Beta) were also tied for the second spot of the podium with thirteen marks.

Despite Dougie couldn't get into the podium, this race has seen Vertigo's ambassador in a good shape before a attacking a new win in the SSDT. Vertigo family scored yet another Top 5 finish by Jordi Picola, who was fifth in Veteran A class.
